Greater Greenwood Community Band Presents “Rhapsody for the Red, White and Blue: Gershwin Meets the 4th of July”

GREENWOOD, IN – The Greater Greenwood Community Band (GGCB) will kick off the City of Greenwood’s annual Freedom Festival with a patriotic concert titled “Rhapsody for the Red, White and Blue: Gershwin Meets the 4th of July.” This free outdoor performance will take place on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Greenwood Amphitheater in Surina Park (behind the fire station on Main Street).

Blending American patriotic classics with the timeless music of George Gershwin, the concert will feature special guest performers Kelleen Strutz on piano and Nicole Bridgens as featured vocalist. The Greenwood and New Whiteland Color Guard will present the colors during the program.

The evening’s repertoire includes:

• Rhapsody in Blue

• Someone to Watch Over Me

• Embraceable You

• Battle Hymn of the Republic

• An American in Paris

• Summertime

• Light Cavalry Overture

• National Anthem

• Stars and Stripes Forever

• Armed Forces Medley

• God Bless America

Under the direction of Randy Greenwell, GGCB’s ensemble of over 80 volunteer musicians will present a musical celebration of American heritage, service, and community spirit.

The event is free and open to the public, and no tickets are required. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for outdoor seating.
