Greater Greenwood Community Band Festival
An exciting new event coming to Johnson County this summer is the Greater Greenwood Community Band Festival. On Saturday, August 9, top rated bands from across the State of Indiana will join in the first of what’s sure to become an annual event. The Surina Square Park in Greenwood will be a hub of activity beginning with a pancake breakfast followed by eight bands performing a large variety of band literature sure to please all ages. The Greenwood mayor, Mark Myers, will kick off the event at 10am with the opening ceremonies followed by music throughout the day. The closing will be at 7:30pm with band members from across all the participating groups joining to play Stars and Stripes Forever led by the honorable and acclaimed conductor, Bill Kisinger, retired director of instrumental music, Purdue University. The community is encouraged to attend. There is no admission charge and food and drinks will be available on site. Mark this event on your calendar and show your support for this awesome event.
