Your donations help keep our concerts FREE!

The Greater Greenwood Community Band is a volunteer, semi-professional 501(c)-3 not for profit organization that strives to provide exceptional musical performances for our audiences both near and far. As with all community organizations, a great deal of our funding comes from our community benefactors. Without the generous support of businesses and individuals throughout Johnson County, our musical impact would be greatly reduced. In addition to the 90-plus members of the ensemble, community members of all ages reap the benefits of having such a reputable and accessible organization by attending our free performances within the south-metro area. In order to continue our work, we are asking for your financial support.

Donors and businesses supporting Greater Greenwood Community Band are not only patronized by our members and our community, but are listed as supporters in all concert programs and our website for the entirety of the season. We initiated our sponsorship program last year and were pleasantly surprised by the support we received from our community. We hope that you are one of those who donated last year and plan to do so again, as it has made a great difference in our operations. If you haven’t contributed, we hope that you will join those whose support makes our work possible.  Being a 501(c)-3 not-for-profit entity, all donations may be tax deductible.

The Greater Greenwood Community Band, established in 1993, rehearses year round except for a brief break after its Christmas concert while members perform as quartets and small ensembles to entertain in small venues such as shopping malls, parks, and nursing homes.

Each concert season consists of a series of performances in the Greenwood High School Auditorium, warm-weather park concerts at the Greenwood Amphitheater, concert band festivals, and other performances in nearby amphitheaters including Garfield Park in Indianapolis. In addition to our community outreach, our group also hosts the Greenwood Community Band Festival during the summer, featuring some of the best concert bands from around the state and bringing approximately 400 musicians to the amphitheater stage. The event includes food and beverages, and guests have included introductions by Greenwood’s Mayor Mark Meyers, plus a “mass band” playing playing “Stars & Stripes Forever” under the direction of guest conductor. Past guest conductors include Herman Knoll, retired VP of Hal Leonard Corporation.

Greenwood, Indiana is known throughout the state and throughout the country as a community of outstanding musical organizations. We have state and national Champion high school bands and choirs, as well as support networks for the arts in our schools which are second to none. The Greater Greenwood Community Band not only provides a vehicle for former members of these outstanding programs to continue making music throughout their lives, but provides free access to outstanding musical programming for our community. We hope you will consider donating to such a worthy and rewarding organization. This button links to the form to provide your contribution.
